Overheard at Smith Center

For my first edition, I want to spend some time talking about quite possibly the best player on the floor last night. Of course I am talking about Jin Soo Kim, a freshman out of Suwon, South Korea. Usually, I hear a lot of trash talking from my photographer's shooting location in front of the visiting bench. But, last night I was surprised to not be able to understand the utterances coming from the exceptionally skinny 6'9" asian wearing the black number 11. Kim played a flawless 11 minutes and recorded 2 fouls and a remarkable 0 points. The highlight of the night occurred when Kim was chastized by an official during a deadball before a free throw for not tucking his jersey in. To be honest, Kim's jersey looked horrible all night and he was having difficulty understanding what the referree was saying so it took him nearly a minute to understand that his style looked like B-rad from Malibu's Most Wanted. A simple "Tuck in your shirt 11" would have been fine for almost anyone else. But nope, not for Jin Soo Kim. His best defense occurred in the final 30 seconds when matched up against Patrick Moody in a full court press. The good news is that we will see a lot more of Jin Soo Kim over the next four years as he continues to be a dominant inside prescence for the Terrapins.
